Hungarian FM Sees No Compromise With ‘Pro-Migration’ Governments
- 29 Aug 2017 3:50 AM
The main reason for international disputes is that there are “pro-migration” governments in Europe and the Hungarian government has made it clear that it will not allow illegal migrants to enter Hungary and will focus on security.
This irreconcilable difference will remain because Hungary will not back off and those on the oppositve side will most probably not say that Hungary was right, Szijjártó said.
He said he expects criticism for instance in connection with the upcoming elections in Germany and Austria because the nominees will try to involve Hungary in their campaigns.
Commenting on the outgoing Dutch ambassador’s recent critical remarks, Szijjártó said the ambassador had crossed a red line by drawing parallels between the motivations of terrorists and the Hungarian government.
The success of bilateral relations depends on mutual respect, Szijjártó said, adding that he had also discussed this with Dutch counterpart Bert Koenders.
There have been disputes with Koenders but they has always been handled in a civilised manner, based on mutual respect, Szijjártó said.
