Mobile Ticket Is To Be Used More Simply In Budapest Metro

Owing to a new development, the use of the mobile ticket has become more simple at metro stations. The validity of the mobile ticket can be verified even without the need to scan the code.

By taking passengers’ feedback and demands into account, the scope of the mobile ticket app has been expanded with a new function, making transport at metro stations quicker and simplier. Before entering the station, it is enough to

• select the mobile ticket or pass purchased in the app,

• then touch “Metro stations”,

• and finally select the name of the boarding point from the indicated list.

After the metro station has been successfully selected, the animated symbol appearing in the app needs to be shown to the control staff. With this solution, it is not required to scan the code displayed on the validators to be found at the entry points.

In case, the GPS system is active on the passengers’ phone and is available for the mobile ticket app, the app automatically offers the selection of the two nearest metro stations. The new function can be used even without the active GPS system, in which case the relating station is required to be searched in the list.

The system enables passengers to save their favourite stations, as a consequence of which, they can use the app more quickly. The new function is available after the app has been upgraded. Until passengers upgrade the app, they can verify the validity of the mobile ticket as usual, by scanning the displayed codes.
