Annual inflation in Hungary was 3.7% in February, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Month on month, prices rose by 0.7%.
The forint strengthened to around 410.30 to the euro shortly after the central bank raised the base rate by 200 basis points on Tuesday.
The forint traded at 407.57 to the euro around 5:30 in the evening on Tuesday, making a modest recovery after slipping as far as 409.84 in the afternoon, a new historical low.
