Survey: 10% of Hungarians Read Books
More than half of the adult population in Hungary never or practically never buy books, Népszava reports, based on a recent representative poll conducted by Tárki.

The proportion of adult book readers dropped by 12% from the Tárki survey conducted in 2005.

Now apparently just one-tenth of the adult population reads books regularly.

Meanwhile, a separate questionnaire for committed readers found they read seven books a year on average.

The Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre in Vörösmarty utca 35, District 6, opened in September 1986 in the Old Academy of Music building, previously used from late 1875 until mid-1907 for music teaching. Early photographs show that there were originally two buildings on the site at the time of inauguration but one building has since been demolished.
