Activity Rises At Local Hotel Booking Website
Hungary’s largest online booking site, Szallas.hu, experienced a spike in new reservations last month for the Easter holidays.

Eight out of ten people planning a holiday abroad would travel within Europe, with a fifth of this group going to Croatia.

Szallas.hu, which is present in five countries in the region, suffered a decline in revenue last year of 22%, half that of its sector peers in Western markets, as foreign units predominantly focus on domestic travellers, said CEO József Szigetvári.

The website offers accommodation in 15,000-16,000 mostly guest houses and apartments in Hungary and the supply is growing by 1,000 annually.

So far, accommodation providers are not slashing prices ahead of the summer season, which Szallas.hu expects to be just as good as in 2020.
