Bavarian Interior Minister Asked About Incident Prior to Germany-Hungary Euro 2020 Match by Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has asked the Bavarian interior minister to brief him about what punishment was imposed on the person who invaded the field waving a large rainbow flag during the Hungarian anthem being played ahead of the Germany-Hungary Euro 2020 match on June 23.

In a letter addressed to Joachim Herrmann, Szijjártó said the Hungarian national team had been subjected to an “unprecedented insult” before the kick-off.

It is also difficult to understand why the incident came as a surprise to the organisers who were well aware of the “efforts to create artificial political tension” before the match, Szijjártó said.
