BKK Signs Contracts for Redesigning Budapest Danube Embankment Area
The head of the Budapest Public Transportation Centre (BKK) Katalin Walter met the representatives of companies that will soon prepare the plans for redesigning the Danube embankment areas on both the Buda and Pest sides of the capital.

The plans are for the lower embankment area to remain as a transport corridor but also to create a network of public spaces on the banks of the Danube that is attractive to both local residents and tourists, BKK said.

On the Pest side facilities for community sports will be built, street furniture installed and cycling and walking routes established.

The aim of the project is to renew the pavements in the area, to improve the conditions for cycling and pedestrian traffic, and to create more green zones.

The full project implementation plans, tender documentation and the necessary permits should be available in the summer of 2022, BKK added.
