Rules on Hiring Medical Staff to be Relaxed in Hungary
A new package of legislative proposals would make it possible to hire doctors, pharmacists and nurses arriving in Hungary, and would abolish the foreign-language proficiency requirement for entering university.

The package of proposals submitted in the name of deputy prime minister Zsolt Semjén has been posted on the website of Parliament.

The proposal – presumably in connection with refugees arriving from Ukraine, Telex observes – creates the terms for physicians, dentists and pharmacists arriving in Hungary from abroad to join the Hungarian healthcare system, which has a staff shortage, as quickly as possible.

Immigrant doctors, dentists and pharmacists would be first required to work for a year under supervision with an accredited healthcare provider. Nurses could expect similar regulations.

On another area, the proposal would allow universities to determine what language skills they require from students and will be able to organise the necessary courses.
