Latest Passenger Numbers at Budapest Airport Fall Below 1 Million
Airport manager Budapest Airport announced on Tuesday that 969,888 passengers passed through Ferenc Liszt International Airport in November, below this year’s monthly average of one million.

The slowdown in the expansion of passenger traffic that began in October continued, the company added.

Passenger numbers in the first 11 months reached 11.2 million, 186% more than in the same period of 2021.

Budapest Airport expects more than 12 million passengers this year, and 14 million next year, two million less than its previous estimate.

The forecast decline is attributed to the economic slowdown, inflation and taxes on airlines.

The growth of air freight traffic continued, as Budapest Airport handled 17,635 tons of air cargo in November, 8.1% more than a year earlier and also 8.1% more than in October.

The growth was driven by increasing demand as Christmas approached.

A total of 178,362 tons of goods were handled at the airport in the first 11 months, up from 164,957 tons a year earlier.
