Sales of Homes in Hungary Hit Eight-Year Low
Home sales were down 19% year-on-year and 43% month-on-month to 6,474 in December, the lowest figure for the year, according to estimates by real estate broker Duna House.

Monthly transactions were lower only in April 2020, after the pandemic restrictions were introduced.

In 2022 as a whole, home sales fell by 22% to 125,171, the lowest annual figure since 2014, when total sales reached 113,000.

Duna House expects home sales to fall further in 2023 to 90,000-110,00.

The agency estimates that households took out Ft 1.2 trillion in mortgage loans last year, 6.6% less than the record volume seen in 2021.

Mortgage outlays in December fell by 48% year-on-year to Ft 55 billion, down by 8% from the previous month.
