Life Expectancy in Hungary Lower Than EU Average
Life expectancy at birth stood at 74.3 years in Hungary in 2021, according to the latest data compiled by the EU statistical agency Eurostat.

In a regional comparison, life expectancy at birth is 77.2 years in the Czech Republic, 75.5 years in Poland, and 74.6 years in Slovakia.

For the European Union as a whole, life expectancy is 80.1 years.

Life expectancy was highest in Spain (83.3 years) and lowest in Bulgaria (71.4 years).

Compared to 2020 data, life expectancy in the EU as a whole fell by 0.3 years, while in Hungary, it went down by 1.4 years.
