Taxi Battle: Bolt Defends its Position in Hungary
Bolt HTX, the Hungarian subsidiary of the international platform-based taxi company, declared on Wednesday that it “acts in accordance with Hungarian legal regulations in all cases, fully complies with them and co-operates with the competent authorities in all respects,” after the Taxi Association questioned its legality and asked the city of Budapest to cancel its licence.

The company said it has registered brand protection and trademarks for protected words and phrases.

Bolt also added that it fully complies with Budapest’s taxi regulations.

The Taxi Association argued that Bolt has not protected its logo but only the name.

Brand expert György Pintz told Index that the phrase “Bolt Taxi” is a distinctive part of the logo used by Bolt, so the use of the current image would presumably be considered a legal trademark by a court.
