Bird Flu in Hungary: Veterinary Chief Orders Farm Fowl to Be Locked Up
Szabolcs Pásztor, Hungary’s chief veterinary officer, has ordered that birds at farms in areas exposed to the deadly bird flu virus should be kept inside buildings or under strong wire nets, the food security authority (Nébih) said.

The measure affects counties in eastern and southern parts of the country, as well as in the north-west. Fowl kept domestically must be held under roofed areas only while being fed, Nébih said, adding that keeping them inside all the time was recommended in order to prevent them from coming into contact with wild birds.
