Two More Prestigious Awards Won by New Hungarian Film “Explanation for Everything”
Hungarian filmmaker Gábor Reisz’s “Explanation for Everything” won awards in two categories at the 59th Chicago International Film Festival, the film’s distributor, Cirko Film, said.

The film won the Gold Hugo, the top prize for best international feature film, and Reisz and co-writer Éva Schulze also picked up the Silver Hugo for best screenplay.

Jurors praised the feature “for its brilliance in telling a multi-layered story that encompasses its protagonist’s coming-of-age and the cultural changes of a country”.

“Superbly written, directed, and acted, this is a film that not only deals with the trouble of growing up, but also digs deeply into human nature when faced with the daunting challenge of making choices,” they said.

Last month, “Explanation for Everything” won “Best Film” in the Horizons section at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
