Regional Comparison: High Number of Battery-Only EVs in Hungary
The number of battery-only electric vehicles registered in Hungary edged over 41,200 in 2023, data compiled by Eurostat show.

The number accounted for 1% of the total 4,168,700 passenger cars registered in Hungary.

In a regional comparison, there were 22,400 battery-only EVs registered in Czechia, accounting for just 0.3% of all passenger car registrations.

There were 51,200 registered in Poland, 0.2% of all registrations, and 7,900 registered in Slovakia, 0.3% of the total.

For the whole European Union, the number of battery-only EVs came to 4,479,400, accounting for 1.7% of all passenger cars on the road.

More Than 60,000 Pure Electric Vehicles in Hungary

The number of pure electric vehicles registered in Hungary rose to close to 61,000 in July, the energy ministry said, adding that the overall number of vehicles with green plates, including hybrids, exceeded 100,000 in June.
