Alleged Hungarian Spying on EU Officials to be Discussed by MEPs
A debate will be held in the European Parliament next Tuesday on suspected Hungarian surveillance of EU officials.

According to the agenda, representatives of the European Commission and Council of Europe will be heard.

Investigative website Direkt36 reported in December that, under the guidance of János Lázár, the Information Office spied on detectives from the EU anti-fraud office OLAF when they were in Hungary investigating suspicious tenders related to the Elios public lighting company.

Several EU officials confirmed to Direkt36 that the EU institutions had received reports of illicit surveillance of other staff members in Hungary.
