Sziget Festival Receives International Green Recognition
Sziget Festival has been awarded the Greener Festival 2024 "Recommended" rating as well as the Green Innovation Award at the international Greener Future (AGF) awards ceremony held in London.

This recognition reflects the festival’s commitment to sustainability, ranging from waste reduction and the use of renewable energy sources to promoting inclusivity and responsible eating.

Greener Future (AGF) is a nonprofit organization focused on improving the environmental sustainability of live events, festivals, and event venues worldwide. Established in 2007, AGF has since provided the world’s first and most comprehensive sustainability standards for the live events sector.

At this year’s awards, Sziget received the “Recommended” rating for its sustainability efforts, designating it as a well-managed, environmentally conscious event that goes beyond expectations and brings positive change.

According to the certification, Sziget demonstrated a strong commitment to social inclusion and sustainability with initiatives such as XS Land, which highlights the daily challenges faced by people with disabilities, and the Magic Mirror venue promoting acceptance of one another.

“Sziget’s Green Points, the Think for Tomorrow stage, and the Civil Island actively engage visitors in a unique fusion of social and environmental initiatives, creating a vibrant and progressive festival atmosphere,” states AGF.

The certification also highlighted Sziget’s waste reduction initiatives, long-standing recycling program, tent registration system, and the Sziget Passport game, which rewarded participants for engaging with sustainable practices.

“Sziget stands out clearly among festivals by creatively combining entertainment with social responsibility on the Island of Freedom,” they wrote, adding that the festival shows enthusiastic dedication to more sustainable festival experiences, focusing on best practices for the future.
