Hungary May Introduce Margin Restrictions for Stores Selling Household Goods - Cheaper Prices Soon at DM, Rossmann & Müller?

He said the measure would apply exclusively to drugstore chains, such as DM, Rossmann and Müller, which account for more than 40 percent of the household products market. The regulation does not apply to mixed retail units where both food and non-food products are sold.
The margin restriction would affect thousands of products in 30 different product categories, such as dishwashing detergents, washing powders, tissue papers, and shower gels, he added.
According to Márton Nagy, these products have so far had margins exceeding 30 percent, and the measure could result in an average price reduction of 16-18 percent.
