Guest Nights Climb Significantly in Hungary for Both Local Travellers & Foreign Visitors
Guest nights at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary climbed 15.6pc to 3,406,000 in April from the same period a year earlier, boosted by the Easter holiday, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) show.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers increased 13.9pc to 1,524,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose 16.9pc to 1,882,000.

Revenue of commercial accommodations, which include hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, camp sites, resorts and hostels, climbed 25pc to HUF 87.6bn.

A total of 25,834 tourism accommodations hosted guests in April, including 23,388 private and other accommodations.

For the period January-April, the number of guest nights increased 5.3pc to 10,659,000 from the same period a year earlier. The number spent by domestic travellers was flat at 4,694,000 and the guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose 9.9pc to 5,965,000.

In a separate statement, the National Economy Ministry said the fresh data reinforced the positive outlook for the tourism sector. The ministry noted that HUF 44.6bn of revenue of tourism accommodations was booked at destinations other than the capital.

Catering revenue climbed 10.7pc to HUF 177.3bn in April from the same month a year earlier, it added.
