Analysis Jobless Rate in Hungary Reaches 4.3% in June
The jobless rate in Hungary for people between the ages of 15 and 74 stood at 4.3pc in June, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Friday show.

In absolute terms, there were 212,000 unemployed.

The number of employed reached 4,679,000.

For the period April-June, the average number of employed reached 4,661,000, 49,000 fewer than in the same period a year earlier. The number of people employed on the primary market stood at 4,490,000, down 57,000 from a year earlier. 

The number of Hungarians working abroad reached 105,000 and the number of people in fostered work programmes was 66,000.

The employment rate for the 15-64 age group stood at 74.9pc.

Data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ) show there were 220,000 registered jobseekers at the end of June, down 1.4pc from twelve months earlier.

Jobseekers spent 12.2 months, on average, looking for work, but 41pc of the jobless found new positions in under three months. The percentage of jobless who had been looking for work for at least one year reached 32pc.

Commenting on the fresh data, Sandor Czomba, the state secretary for employment policy, said Hungary's employment data remained "in the forefront" in Europe. He added that programmes to boost employment had placed over 44,000 jobseekers in positions.

Job postings down in Q2

The number of jobs postings listed on its site were down in every county in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period a year before, recruiting site Profession.hu told MTI.

The number of posted jobs saw the biggest fall in Vas County where it was down 31pc and the smallest decline was in Komarom-Esztergom and Veszprem counties, with 2pc fewer offers in each.

There were 15pc fewer job openings advertised in Budapest than in the second quarter of last year.

The most significant fall in job posting numbers was in IT and programming (28pc) and public administration (27pc).

The number of job applications was down 2.6pc across the country based on the site’s data.
