11 Culinary Concepts & 3 Bars to Open Soon Under One Roof in Budapest
Time Out Market Budapest will officially open its doors Sept. 20 in the historic Corvin Palace, bringing together 11 culinary concepts, three bars, five event spaces and a slate of cultural programming.

The market will be open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Time Out Market, a global food and cultural hub, showcases top chefs, restaurateurs, drinks and performances under one roof. The Budapest location — the first in Central and Eastern Europe — aims to offer a curated taste of the city, combining fine dining, casual fare, local wines, craft beers and creative cocktails with live music, DJ sets, workshops and family events.

The final additions to the lineup include M’eat by Michelin-starred chef Jenő Rácz, Lira by Essência Restaurant, Hai Nam Pho and the Absolut Bar. “There are moments in life when you feel: ‘I’ve arrived, this is truly a good place,’” said Rácz about his new concept.

“That’s exactly what I had in mind when I envisioned M’EAT. We aim to attract people who enjoy a laid-back vibe, good conversations and that love spending time with friends and family.”

Other highlights include Lira’s casual fine dining by chefs Tiago Sabarigo and Miguel Diniz, Hai Nam Pho’s nostalgic Vietnamese flavors rooted in decades of family recipes, and Absolut’s dedicated cocktail bar, bringing its “Born to Mix” philosophy to Budapest.

Cultural programming will feature live piano on Mondays, jazz on Tuesdays and Saturdays, intimate Banana Records performances on Wednesdays and Fridays, DJ sets on Thursdays and family activities on Sundays. Monthly headliner concerts will round out the schedule.

“Time Out Market Budapest will bring a new culinary and cultural experience to the city and we can’t wait to open our doors on 20 September – it will be a big celebration of the fantastic talents our city has to offer,” said Viktor Balogh, owner of Time Out Market Budapest.

“The food scene in Budapest and across Hungary has really evolved in the last few years and we have created this amazing place to present the rich, diverse culinary and cultural vibrancy and the very best Hungarian creators.

“We wanted to make sure that we feature the city’s well-known chefs and award-winning restaurateurs and also give much-loved local gems and up-and-coming talents an opportunity to showcase their expertise.

We are thrilled to bring this project to life, not only with our own vision but in collaboration with some of Budapest’s and Hungary’s most renowned culinary figures, creating something entirely new that Budapest has never seen before.

We will be offering guests an experience that is unique yet accessible and affordable as we open our doors at Corvin Palace, creating a meaningful addition to this city and our neighbourhood, and helping it reclaim the prominent place within city life it once held decades ago,” he added.

Time Out Market Budapest will host established names such as Anyukám Mondta, Pingrumba, 101 Bistro, Szaletly, Canteen by István Pesti, Casa Christa, Bigfish, Tuning Burger, Dreher Tanksör and the Wines of Hungary Bar.

Gyros doesn’t always get the credit it deserves — especially after a night out, when it's often grabbed from a less-than-glamorous underpass kiosk. But this Mediterranean street food, when made with care, is surprisingly fresh, hearty, and exactly what you crave on a hot summer day, say the team at WeLoveBudapest.
