VéNégy Festival: Celebrating Regional Unity Through Music & Culture, 2 - 5 July

The 12th VéNégy Festival and Theatre Meeting officially opened on Wednesday evening in the scenic riverside town of Nagymaros, welcoming audiences from Regional countries - locals and expats too - for 4 days of music, theatre, and cultural exchange.

At the launch event, Bence Rétvári, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and MP for the region, highlighted the family-friendly festival's unique setting and diverse programme.
The festival was praised for offering not only concerts and performances but also outdoor and sports activities — all reflecting the shared cultural values of four nations: Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
Anita Kiss-Hegyi, State Secretary for Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, emphasised the importance of showcasing the richness of Hungarian culture both at home and abroad.
She also underlined the value of cultural "imports" like VéNégy, which bring international perspectives to Hungarian audiences.
More Than Just a Festival
Mayor László Petrovics noted that VéNégy goes beyond music and theatre - it's also a celebration of the close ties and shared future of the Visegrád Four countries.
Music, Theatre & More
This year’s festival features more than 40 music performances across four stages, with top Hungarian acts such as Dzsúdló, Quimby, Analog Balaton, Elefánt, Desh, and Fiúk. Prominent theatre companies are also participating from Budapest, Krakow, Prague, and Banská Bystrica.
Theatrical Highlights
Opening night featured Seven Dead Bugs Shine in Her Soaked Hair, a striking production by the National Theatre, performed by Miklós Vecsei H. and the band Qjúb. The festival also offers street theatre, puppet shows for families, and even VR theatre experiences.
