State of Emergency in Hungary Continues: New Parliament Elevates Decrees to Law
Parliament approved a law to elevate state of emergency decrees issued in response to the armed conflict in Ukraine to legal status at its inaugural session on Saturday.

The bill, submitted by Marton Mellethei-Barna of the Tisza Party, was passed bypassing standard parliamentary rules with 190 votes in favour and six against.

The legislation was necessary because the state of emergency due to the Ukraine war, first declared on Nov 1, 2022, is set to expire on May 13.
