MPs Vote to Drastically Cut their Own Salaries in Hungary
At the Tisza Party’s proposal, Parliament voted unanimously on Monday to reduce MPs’ salaries.

The Tisza Party pushed through the amendment motion in Parliament in just over a week. The preamble to the bill said the current gross average salaries are unfair and have completely broken away from the real financial status of most of Hungarian society.

The aim of the motion is that the allowances of politicians should better reflect economic realities and end the privileged wage rise in the public sphere.

The gross monthly salary will decrease from the current Ft 2.1 million to Ft 1.3 million but may be topped up for holders of various parliamentary positions and committee places.
