Temu Starts Paying Compensation to Shoppers in Hungary
- 20 Jul 2026 3:47 PM
The marketplace started paying consumers who made purchases on the platform between November 2023 and September 2024 HUF 2,000 apiece, in cash.
GVH had launched a probe of Temu's local practices after its experts assessed a number reports regarding the e-commerce platform.
Messages on Temu urging consumers to "hurry up" with their purchases because a limited number of the products were left, or touting products rated "five stars" by earlier buyers was likely a form of "psychological pressure", while promises of discounts of "as much as 95pc" could be misleading, GVH said at the time.
Whaleco was also fined HUF 437m for the practices.
