Tesco Revamps Key Hypermarket in Hungary with HUF 1 Billion Upgrade
UK-owned retailer Tesco inaugurated a nearly HUF 1bn renovation of its hypermarket in Budaörs, on the outskirts of the capital.

Zsolt Palinkas, who heads Tesco's local unit, said 14 Tesco supermarkets had been renovated, so far.

Tesco aims to add another 20-25 partners to its franchise programme in 2026 and boost that number by 90 in the next two to two and a half years, he added.

The Budaörs hypermarket opened in 2001, and was once the largest Tesco store in the group by floor space.

The recent renovation included changes to the fresh food section, with the bakery and fruit and vegetable departments redesigned alongside upgraded equipment.

This store has also introduced new technologies, including smart scales and improved stock management systems, Tesco announced.
