The recent UEFA Champions League Final held in Budapest represented not only a major event for football supporters, but also the greatest challenge to date for Hungarian aviation and the partners responsible for operating airport infrastructure.

Record-breaking Number of Flights and Passengers in Three Days

In connection with the sporting event, the airport infrastructure and ground handling teams operated under exceptional pressure.

The remarkable traffic figures achieved during the Final weekend clearly reflect the scale of the challenge: over the course of three days, the airport handled more than 2,000 flights and nearly 200,000 passengers.

The continuous and seamless servicing of arriving and departing supporter groups, charter flights, official delegations and VIP guests required precise coordination and outstanding teamwork across all participating teams.

Managing the increased passenger volume while maintaining cleanliness and safe operations across the terminals required enhanced capacity from the airport division of B+N Magyarország Kft.

Following the successful and smooth execution of operations, Francois Berisot, Chief Executive Officer of Budapest Airport Plc., formally recognised the work of the team led by Imre Benkó, Division Director of B+N Magyarország Kft., in an official letter of appreciation.

“Months of careful preparation, exemplary cooperation between organisations, and your high level of professional commitment made it possible for our airport to successfully meet the challenges associated with one of the most significant sporting events ever hosted in Hungary. Thanks to our joint efforts, operations were managed seamlessly while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service,” wrote Francois Berisot in his letter.

The successful delivery of this complex operation demonstrates that B+N Magyarország Kft. is capable of meeting the highest international standards not only in theory but also in practice, even within critical infrastructure environments.
