A Modern Islay Classic

Kilchoman Distillery opened its doors in 2005, becoming the first new distillery on Islay in 124 years. From the beginning, Kilchoman set out to do things differently, reviving the island’s traditional farm distillery model with a strong emphasis on provenance, craftsmanship, and full production control.

The distillery is a family-run business owned by the Wills family. Anthony and Kathy Wills were the visionaries behind the project, establishing Kilchoman with a clear goal: to produce authentic Islay whisky using traditional methods.

As the distillery grew, the next generation joined the business. Today, their three sons, James, George, and Peter, are actively involved, managing sales and marketing across global markets.

The European Tour Returns – Bigger Than Ever

The Kilchoman European Tour first hit the road in 2023, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about whisky roadshows in Europe. Travelling across the continent in their unmistakable Kilchoman Land Rover, the team brought Islay directly to whisky fans, hosting tastings, masterclasses, and meet-the-maker events.

In 2026, the tour returns for the third time, and this year it is set to be the largest whisky tour Europe has ever seen. Over 10 weeks, the Kilchoman team will visit 26 countries, connecting with thousands of whisky enthusiasts along the way. To mark the occasion, Kilchoman has bottled a special release exclusively for the tour.

Introducing the First Full Mezcal Cask Matured Kilchoman

The highlight of the 2026 tour is without question the world’s first fully Mezcal Cask Matured Kilchoman whisky. Known for its bold peat smoke, coastal character, and citrus freshness, Kilchoman has never been afraid to explore new cask influences. Mezcal casks bring an entirely new dimension, combining earthy smoke, herbal notes, and subtle sweetness that beautifully complement Islay peat.

This innovative maturation represents a bridge between two smoky spirits traditions, offering whisky fans a rare chance to experience something completely new while remaining unmistakably Kilchoman in style.

Kilchoman in Hungary

Hungarian whisky lovers will have the opportunity to experience the tour firsthand on February 16th. The event will take place at GoodSpirit Etele in Budapest from 14:00 to 17:00.

Visitors can meet James and Emma from the Kilchoman team, hear stories from Islay, and of course, taste the latest Kilchoman releases, including the new Mezcal Cask Matured expression.
