Xpat Interview: Peter Pesti
I am a fresh graduate of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Technical Informatics, and will start my PhD in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta) in August 2006. I have also completed a Masters in Computer Science at Georgia Tech in 2004/05.

In my free time I love to learn about distant places, travel, take photos, and share my observations and experiences in my blog: peter.freeblog.hu.

1. Where did you grow up?
The town of Budaörs, just west of Budapest

2. What Hungarian traditions bring back fond memories of your childhood?
Not traditions, but places: summers in Szentendre and Õrbottyán...

3. What would you miss most if you moved away from Hungary?
People-watching while taking public transport in Budapest :)

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Walk across a Danube bridge at night!

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Palacsinta

6. What is never missing from your kitchen?
At least one of Túró Rudi, müzli szelet, Sport szelet, Autós szelet or Balaton szelet

7. What is your favourite place in Hungary?
In this summer heat, the Velencei-tó

8. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I'm just starting my PhD so I'd better not get any second thoughts :)

9. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Construction worker

10. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Croatia

11. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Florida

12. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Michael Jackson :) Yeah, he's all weird now...

13. What can't you resist?
Pretty eyes :)

14. Red wine or white?
Red.

15. Kolbász or szalámi?
I like szalámi, but not kolbász.

16. Book or movie?
Movie, but I should read more books.

17. Morning person or night person?
Sooo night.

18. Dog person or cat person?
Neither. I used to have a hamster a long time ago.

19. Buda or Pest side?
I move around in Buda more.

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
