Xpat Interview: Michele Einert
Michele was born in Chicago. Studied art at Illinois State University before she was travelling around Europe. In 1995 she worked as an English teacher in Tokyo.

She moved to Budapest in 1998 married a Hungarian and they have four daughters.

Her award winning - Pesti Est Top 10 - paintings were exhibited several times in Budapest.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
April 1998, I married my Hungarian husband in October of the same year in Szolnok.

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Yes, Tokyo

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
In the Polus Shopping Center, not one shop would except my visa debt card.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend--what must they absolutely see and do?
I take my guests to one of the baths.

5. What is your favorite Hungarian food?
Favorite hungarian food...hmmm, let me see...sushi

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Beer

7. What is your favorite Hungarian word?
Hihetetlen

8. What do you miss the most from home?
Going out with girlfriends to a sportbar.

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Easy, I would be a hip-hop dancer on an MTV video

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
CFO

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Tuscany

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Austria skiing

13 What was your favorite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Billy Idol

Beer with friends

Like I mentioned Beer

With four daughters under the age of 8...morning
