Hungary’s Lánchíd (Chain Bridge) will be closed temporarily from Sunday until Thursday in the morning hours, with traffic jams expected in the immediate area.

Thanks to everyone who came and supported, especially British Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE for warmly encouraging guests to "dig deep", together we raised HUF 4.236 million.
This is a record fundraising result for XpatLoop's annual bonfire party, with 250 guests uniting for charity. Her Majesty's Ambassador to Hungary wrote afterwards: "Really enjoyed it, very good event." Read on for more ...

Festival Of Folk Arts, Buda Castle, 18 - 21 August

The Festival of Folk Arts (Mesterségek Ünnepe) brings the finest Hungarian craftsmen and their work to Buda Castle from across the country. They bring a variety of different folk crafts ranging from woodcarving to egg painting. Visitors can partake in many of the activities, as well as enjoy live folk music and dance performances.

Programmes begin on Kossuth tér at 8.30 a.m. Saturday morning where the national flag will be hoisted while soldiers present a military salute and army offers are inaugurated. Defence Minister István Simicskó will welcome the crowd after which President János Áder will deliver a speech.

August 20th is Hungary's National Day commemorating King Stephen, the first king of the Hungarian sand the founder of the Hungarian state. He led in the Catholicism with the protection of Rome. He was canonised and became St. Stephen on 20th August 1083. On this day the whole country celebrates with concerts, Holy Mass and fireworks.
