Hungarian Government To Raise Health-Care Wages In September

The government has reached an agreement with health-care unions on raising base salaries in the sector starting in September this year, the human resources minister announced on Thursday. The base salary of doctors and pharmacists will increase by gross 107,000 forints (EUR 344) from September 1 this year and by another 100,000 forints from November 1, 2017, Zoltán Balog told a press conference.

Construction of the second phase of the Duna Medical Center, the largest private hospital in Hungary, has started in Budapest’s Ninth District, the owner announced. Work on the concrete skeleton that has sat idle on the Danube riverside for eight years will be resumed by construction company Épszerk Pannónia Invest.

A 37-year-old foreign woman died last Wednesday after an operation, having been turned away from three hospitals in Budapest. An ambulance was called when the woman collapsed in the 12th District at 2:30 in the afternoon last Wednesday, March 9th.
