Law firm Dentons has appointed Atanas Politov as Europe Director of Pro Bono, to be based in the company’s Budapest office, joining the Europe Pro Bono Committee formed in 2015 to coordinate Dentons’ pro bono legal services across continental Europe, according to a press release issued.

Daily Napi Gazdaság, quoting unnamed sources, said that a foreign intelligence agency has handed to the Hungarian authorities details, photographs and copies of the passports of ten terrorist suspects in case they appear among migrants arriving in Hungary. The paper said the southern Hungarian regional immigration office had been sent the details “through a closed network”.

The government has prepared a list of safe countries of origin and safe third countries that includes the Western Balkans where most illegal immigrants arrive from. The list of countries deemed as safe under the asylum law includes all EU member states and four candidates for EU membership, namely Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The fifth candidate, Turkey, does not feature on the list.
