This traditional service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Commonwealth War Cemetery of Solymár on Sunday 12 Nov at 10:55. Everybody is welcome to attend the ecumenical service, and those who do are kindly requested to arrive at the cemetery no later than 10:45. The service lasts approximately 20 minutes.

Hungary’s flag was raised and then lowered to half-mast with military honours in front of Parliament on Saturday to mark the 61st anniversary of the crushing of the 1956 revolution and freedom-fight. The Hungarian government in 2013 declared November 4 to be a national day of mourning.

Hungary’s national flag was hoisted in front of the Parliament building on Monday morning, in a state commemoration marking the 61th anniversary of the anti-Soviet uprising which started on October 23, 1956. Hungarians rose up against the inhuman communist regime in October, 1956, and the country of 10 million people defeated the domineering Soviet Union of 200 million people for 13 days.

Celebrated Hungarian pianist, conductor and composer Zoltán Kocsis, who died at age 64 on November 6, was buried in Budapest on Saturday. The late artist was paid final respects at the Hungarian Academy of Music.
