Technical devices are still the most popular Christmas gifts in Hungary, economic news portal vg.hu said in its latest market roundup. According to a recent survey conducted by K&H Bank, Hungarians spend 43 thousand forints (approx. €140) on average during Christmas shopping season, including 29 thousand forints spent on gifts and presents.

Materials and equipment used in the recent construction of the border fence between Hungary and Serbia were purchased at 5-8 times the market price, the radical nationalist Jobbik party said. Deputy leader István Apáti said that the government had provided “confusing” answers to relevant questions and added that his party would file a criminal complaint under suspicion of abuse of public funds.
