150,000 Hungarian Companies Fail To Pay Chamber Fee

As many as 150,000 Hungarian companies have failed to pay an annual business chamber registration fee this year, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Wednesday. Last year, about 600,000 companies paid the 5,000 forint registration fee, but this year, just 440,000 have paid it, Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) chief secretary Péter Dunai told the paper.

The works of French masters are in focus at the rearranged 19th-century permanent exhibition that opened in the Budapest Fine Arts Museum on Thursday. The whole collection of the around 1,000 paintings and sculptures made after 1800 was already rearranged two times in the past, in 2005 and 2012, Zsófia Anna Kovács told reporters.

The chief purpose of the exhibition conceived for the 150th anniversary of the artist’s birth is to give a comprehensive presentation of the museum’s own material of prints and drawings. As the earliest sheets in the Budapest collection are from 1892 the exhibition wishes to shed light upon the last decade of his oeuvre (1891–1901), characterised by lively lithographic activity.
