Austria expelled and returned to Hungary seven times more illegal migrants in the first seven months of this year than in the corresponding period of last year, the national police headquarters reported. The Győr-Moson-Sopron County police headquarters collected 48 illegal migrants from Austria in early August.

Retired Archbishop of Esztergom László Paskai, former head of Hungary’s Catholic Church, died aged 89. Hungary has lost a priest who loved his church and country, the Christian Democrats said, expressing deep condolences over Paskai’s death in a statement. Paskai headed the Catholic Church in difficult times and he was a dedicated and wise leader and a good diplomat, the statement said.
