A Russian visa centre opened in central Budapest. The centre at Andrassy Avenue 100 serves customers applying for a Russian visa on each weekday from 9am to 5pm, the head of the company operating the centre said at the opening ceremony.

The court’s decision has paved the way for the plaintiffs to sue the Hungarian state for enormous damages.

Asylum-seekers may be returned to a non-EU country considered as a “safe country” without consent from another member state, the European Court of Justice said it ruled. Under the ruling, Hungary was not at fault for returning a Pakistani national to Serbia in August last year, after rejecting his asylum request.
