Hungary’s annual inflation is likely to have eased somewhat last month on the back of downside food price pressures and base effects, London-based emerging markets economists said ahead of Tuesday’s data release. Analysts at Morgan Stanley said their forecast is for a temporary slowdown to an annual 2.8% in March after a 2.9% reading in February, following downside surprises in Germany and Spain.

According to hvg.hu, over 700 drivers have been fined based on public space surveillance camera recordings. However, these cameras are not suitable to be used as a basis for fining drivers, the police declared. Last week, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós told drivers who had been fined based on public space surveillance camera recordings not to pay their fine.

Budapest Mayor István Tarlós sent the first restored M3 metro train into service Monday morning after the metro cars spent more than a year under renovation in the Moscow suburb of Mytishchi. The 40 year old Soviet-built metro trains were sent to Russia early last year, and so far five trains have arrived back in Budapest with the remaining 37 expected to arrive by the end of Spring 2018.

Richárd Janza, 21-year-old world youth kayaking champion, died in a car accident early Saturday morning. Police said Janza was killed at 1.15 a.m. Saturday morning as he was sitting in a stationary car waiting at a red light on Szentendre út when another car smashed into the vehicle at high speed.
