As is now traditional, this year Budapest Airport is once again participating in the global environmental initiative called Earth Hour. The Hungarian capital airport will close one of its runways, switch off the related lights and reduce energy consumption in passenger circulation areas and in the nearly 300 buildings located at the airport for an hour at 8:30 p.m. on 23 March.

In another change, electricity and gas distributors will have to read household meters quarterly if the client so prefers. At present, energy distributors may read the meters no more than once a year.

On Monday Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed his dissatisfaction with a recent court ruling in connection with the Government's efforts to reduce utility bills. A Budapest court ruled in favour of natural gas providers last week against the Hungarian Energy Office's decree establishing fees for grid use, according to a report by business daily Napi Gazdaság.
