The alliance was set up at the initiative of California and Baden- Wurttemberg by the leaders of twelve regions around the world in May this year. The participants undertake to reduce green-house gas emissions from 1990’s level by 80% by the year 2050.

No Evidence Hungary Lost On Volkswagen Emission Scandal

There is no direct evidence that Hungary has made any losses in connection with Volkswagen’s emission scandal, the economy ministry said in response to the opposition Dialogue for Hungary (PM) party’s question regarding losses. It would be premature to guess if any tax revenue was lost in connection with the vehicles registered in Hungary, the ministry said.

Data from the National Transport Authority indicate that 40,095 vehicles in Hungary are affected by Volkswagen’s diesel emissions scandal, Development Minister Miklós Seszták said. In his response to independent lawmaker Tímea Szabó in parliament, Seszták said the transport authority automatically certifies new cars based on approval by an EU member state regulator.
