Magyar Telekomʼs first-quarter net income more than quadrupled to HUF 10.7 billion from HUF 2.5 bln in the base period on an improved margin and one-off gains, an earnings report published late yesterday shows, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

Hungary’s average unemployment rate was 6.0% in January-March, down from 6.1% in the previous three-month period, the Central Statistical Office reported. The unemployment rate was down from 7.8% in the same period a year earlier. The number of unemployed averaged 272,800 in January-March.

The Lánchíd bridge was blocked by demonstrating taxis this morning. Approximately 1,000 Hungarian taxis are expected to close the main roads of Budapest today in a demonstration against ride-sharing services, which they claim still operate unlawfully in the capital because of lack of effective government action, according to reports.
