The Festival of Folk Arts (Mesterségek Ünnepe) brings the finest Hungarian craftsmen and their work to Buda Castle from across the country. They bring a variety of different folk crafts ranging from woodcarving to egg painting. Visitors can partake in many of the activities, as well as enjoy live folk music and dance performances.
Áder Opens Hungarian House In Rio

President János Áder formally opened a Hungarian House created to help promote Hungary’s 20214 Olympic bid in Rio de Janeiro on Friday. The venue, where Hungary’s past Olympic successes and an interactive exhibition presenting the Budapest’s 2024 Olympic bid are on display, is located in an equestrian club on the shore of Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and is open for supporters.

Judit Reigl’s painting sold for a record price of EUR 411,000 at the Sothesby’s auction in Paris. This is the highest price for which a living Hungarian or Hungarian-born artist’s work has even been sold, nol.hu reports. The 1955 painting is part of her Outburst series. 'Sand In My Eyes', Sudanese Travelling Exhibition, 3 - 30 May

The photographer and author Enikö Nagy has spent several years collecting everyday moments - in photography and spoken word - from over 45 tribes and ethnic groups across 30,000km of Sudan, in some of the hardest-to-access regions of the world, to produce the English-Arabic bilingual poetic picture book SAND IN MY EYES: Sudanese Moments, that this exhibition is drawn from.

Annual May Museums’ Festival features 120 Hungarian museums which will bring along presentations about their museums to the courtyard of the National Hungarian Museum for two days. Many of museums’ presentation run free workshops or “feel and touch” exhibitions. The one of Military museum is an absolute hit every year not only among youngsters but among adults as well.
