This year’s edition highlights the 130th anniversary of cinema, commemorating the Lumière brothers’ first public screening in 1895.

The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) granted its FIPRESCI 100 Lifetime Achievement Tribute to Hungarian director Istvan Szabo at the 78th Cannes Film Festival and he collected the award late on Friday before the screening of his film Sunshine, which had undergone a full 4K digital restoration.
