Mr Griffin’s appointment as Ambassador to Hungary was announced by the Foreign Minister the Hon Kevin Rudd MP, on 12 May 2011. Mr Griffin presented his Credentials to HE Mr Pál Schmidt on 18 August 2011. Since 19 January 2012, Mr Griffin has been Ambassador (non-resident) to Romania.

November is a time to remember those who have gone before. In Hungary, Imagefamilies visit cemeteries, leave wreaths and flowers, light candles and talk about loved ones they’ve lost. For me, it’s a time to think about Hungarians whose lives were lived in the shadow of war, fascism, communism or poverty, and I am once again grateful to have grown up in peace, freedom and prosperity.

Almost half of Hungarians, 47%, view Russia – at times as an empire and at times as centre of the Soviet Union – as a historical enemy of Hungary, according to a recent poll. In this respect Russians are second behind Turks, whereas Russia was first in the previous survey six years ago.

Homeland and Progress Foundation president Gordon Bajnai, Milla Association president Peter Juhasz and Hungarian Solidarity Movement president Peter Konya addressed a letter to LMP leader Benedek Javor and all officials of the party's national council, Together announced.
