About You Sanctioned by Watchdog in Hungary for Unfair Business Practices

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) on Wednesday said it ordered the Hamburg-based operator of online retailer About You to pay a fine and offer several hundred thousand Hungarians compensation for unfair business practices.

GVH said About You had given customers the false impression that they were entitled to discounts, while putting consumers under pressure to make purchases by suggesting inventories were limited.

About You was fined HUF 505m and ordered to pay Hungarian customers who made purchases during a two-year period starting December 31, 2022 HUF 1,750 apiece, an amount that could reach over HUF 500m, GVH estimated.
