With temperatures plummeting to around minus 10 in Hungary, one enterprising charity firm has introduced an initiative to help the homeless. Although there are no official figures for the number of people living on the streets in Budapest, thousands use shelters and any available floor space for extra mattresses.

This initiative has been performed for four year with the aim to collect money through selling cookies and use the raised amount to purchase goods for the elder people, for example timber. This winter volunteers from the Cake Factory sold cookies at bus stations, car depots, and chocolate bars.

Budapest and Warsaw are in agreement that central Europe can become the engine of European growth, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s minister of foreign affairs and trade, said after meeting his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski. He said they had both agreed that Visegrad Group cooperation should be intensified, given changes taking place around the world, such as in US foreign policy and Brexit.
