Yep, it’s the big Burns Supper in Budapest, which has raised Euro 1m for charity over the years, held again with much success last Saturday at the fabulous Corinthia.

Forty-five countries will be represented by their embassies at the sixth local Diplomatic Fair. Stalls will showcase specialities and souvenirs from around the world, and Xpats are invited to enjoy food and drink from over 20 countries in the refreshment area. Entertainment will include music and dance from Indonesia, Chile, India, USA, and Serbia, among many others.

Thanks to everyone who came and supported, especially British Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE for warmly encouraging guests to "dig deep", together we raised HUF 4.236 million.
This is a record fundraising result for XpatLoop's annual bonfire party, with 250 guests uniting for charity. Her Majesty's Ambassador to Hungary wrote afterwards: "Really enjoyed it, very good event." Read on for more ...

The government has decided to set up a Roma educational and cultural centre in Budapest, the human resources ministry told MTI. The government is committed to nurturing Roma culture, one form of which is establishing a centre where the minority’s cultural traditions can be presented in a world-class environment, the ministry said in a statement.

Low income families need all types of gently used clothing, particularly warm clothes and coats for cold weather, formal clothes (to attend job interviews), kids' clothing (they grow out of them so fast!), and shoes. It's really helpful if donated clothing is clean, reasonably wrinkle-free, or neatly folded.
