The Spanish carrier Iberia has launched its direct Madrid-Budapest flight on Tuesday morning, with the first flight’s 95 passengers being greeted at the airport by Hungary’s ambassador to the Spanish capital. The new flight will operate between 2 June until the end of October twice a week, with two flights serving the route on Tuesdays and Thursdays but none on Mondays and Fridays.

Utair launched the service between Vnukovo airport and Sármellék near popular holiday resort Hévíz last year, operating it weekly on Sundays between March and October.
