On the occasion of the Budapest EuroGames 2012 and the 17th Budapest Pride Festival, we convey our support for, and solidarity with, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities in Hungary. We support the right of these persons to organise large scale events and to be able to express themselves peacefully and lawfully.
Over 3,000 To Take Part In EuroGames In Budapest, Hungary

Some 3,000 athletes will take part in the EuroGames for gay and lesbian athletes from June 27 to July 1 at the Dürlin centre in Budapest’s 14th District, Népszabadság reports. About 90% of the registered athletes are foreigners, with most expected from the UK, Germany, Holland and Russia.
The Budapest Pride March Is On - Organizers Are Taking Further Legal Action

Organisers: We welcome the ruling of the Budapest Metropolitan Court, which annuls the banning order against the Budapest Pride march issued by the Budapest Police last week. However, as the Court could not examine the fact that the police clearly violated its equal treatment obligations, we are taking further legal action with the help of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee.

"Amnesty International welcomes the decision by the Budapest Metropolitan Court on 18 February, overturning a police resolution of 11 February that banned the Budapest Pride march. The march had been scheduled for 18 June 2011, and was banned following an attempt by the organizers to extend the march’s route.

On 6 April 2012 the Chief of Budapest Police issued a resolution banning the 2012 LGBT Pride march, scheduled on 7 July 2012. Amnesty International is concerned that the banning of the Pride march violates the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people to exercise their freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression without discrimination.
